Landscaping Updates
Dear Residents, Some of you may have noticed areas of turf throughout the Villas of Carillon that are exhibiting signs of distress. During a recent property inspection, the two main causes were identified as moisture stress (over saturation due to rain) and an aggressive emergence of summer annual grass weeds. NOTE: the VOC irrigation system was disabled in mid-July, therefore the oversaturation is due to natural rainfall and accumulation of rainwater in lower lying areas of the property and/or areas with improper drainage from the home. A plan is in place to address the areas showing major signs of distress before the end of the calendar year; however, conditions need to dry up and both applications of fall herbicide will need to be completed before re-evaluating and repairing these areas. The temperature must drop below 85 degrees before the herbicide can be applied. As such, we are anticipating the first application during the middle of October. The second application will take place 2-3 weeks later (early November). The turf will be evaluated 2-3 weeks following the second herbicide application, near the middle of November. NOTE: this plan will apply to all turf repair projects including those which have been an ongoing concern for residents. In mid-November, we also intend to lift the hold on landscape enhancement projects (both Association and owner-initiated), however we ask for patience and understanding from the residents as labor shortages will continue to impact the pace at which these projects will be approved and completed. Best Regards, Board of Directors & Landscape Committee
