Gate Update - RFID Tag Swap (9/7 & 9/8)
Dear Residents,
As many of you are aware, we have been working with our vendor to ensure rigorous testing in order to guarantee we have no issues prior to putting the new RFID system into operation.
During our testing, a fairly large percentage of vehicles with windshield tags failed to read successfully under certain conditions. Some of these failures were intermittent and some of them occurred 100% of the time the vehicle attempted to enter.
We performed a controlled experiment during which we were able to prove that any vehicle with a windshield tag that previously had an issue getting a good read was able to get consistently good reads using the headlight tag.
After discussions with the vendor, they have offered to replace our windshield tags with headlight tags to resolve this issue in order to help us complete the project.
As a convenience to our residents, the board and property manager will be available at the Clubhouse to collect your windshield tags and issue your replacement headlight tags. They will be onsite at the following dates/times:
Wednesday 9 /7 from 6pm to 7pm
Thursday 9/8 from 6pm to 7pm
If you cannot make either of these times, you will need to visit the M&A office, in person, to swap your tags before 9/16.

QUESTIONS:
Q: My windshield tag is working fine, and it is already stuck to the windshield. Do I still need to remove it and swap it out?
A: No. If your tag is working, then there is no need to remove it. NOTE: You are still entitled to collect a replacement headlight if you wish. But you must do so at one of the time slots specified above. Otherwise, you may collect it in person at the M&A office during normal business hours. IMPORTANT: Your replacement headlight tag will not be activated as long as your original windshield tag is active. You must inform us if you want to activate your new tag and deactivate your old one when you come to pick it up.
Q: Do I need to bring payment?
A: No. This is a tag exchange only. There is no additional payment required.
Q: I am nervous about installing my tag. Can you do it for me?
A: Unfortunately, not. We have provided the manufacturer instructions below and strongly recommended that people temporarily (scotch) tape the tags to their right (passenger) side headlight to test they system before permanently affixing them. Follow these instructions and take care when removing the tag from the adhesive backing and you should have no issues.
Verify your tag by looking for the green light on the tag reader. If you have any issues with your new headlight tag, contact Tara Martinez (tmartinez@mgmt-assoc.com).
Q: I prefer a windshield tag. Will you let me keep it?
A: Yes. You can keep your windshield tag if it works, however we are encouraging everyone to pick up a headlight tag in the event their windshield tag eventually becomes a problem. We strongly recommend that everyone use headlight tags as these have been proven to be more reliable. Other communities who use the same system, have reported no issues when using headlight tags. IMPORTANT: Your replacement headlight tag will not be activated as long as your original windshield tag is active. You must inform us if you want to activate your new tag and deactivate your old one when you come to pick it up.
Q: How do I wash my car? Will the tag come off?
A: Wash your car as you normally would if you had any other sticker attached to it. Use mild soap and water. Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive pads, scrapers or squeegees. Avoid high pressure wash nozzles around the tag. Use caution around the tag area when washing and drying the vehicle. Automatic car washes should not be a problem, but if you concerned, we recommend you avoid them. We also recommend just a bit of extra caution when installing or removing car covers to avoid the tag potentially getting snagged on the cover. Otherwise, please note that these tags are meant to resist the elements and reside on the outside of vehicles.
